A high court judge has struck down elements of the sedition act, effectively stopping the state from prosecuting all outstanding sedition cases including those against PSA leader Watson Duke and the leader of the Jamaat-Al-Muslimeen, Imam Yasin Abu Bakr.

The cause was brought by the late Sat Maharaj last year.

The landmark judgement has deemed pieces of the legislation unconstitutional and gives law enforcement the power to use it arbitrarily. We tell you why the attorney general is firing back.
