Autopsy on Baby Justin today

An autopsy will be done today on the body of three-year-old Prince Francette who died when his father’s car exploded in Tabaquite on Friday.

Prince’s aunt Amanda Granger, who wants the police to do a detailed investigation into the child’s death, said they were unsure where and when the funeral will take place.

“Right now Prince’s mother cannot catch herself. She cannot believe her baby is gone. She is not talking to Prince’s father right now. She blames him. We planning to do the funeral in Tableland but nothing has been finalised as yet,” Granger said.

Justin Francette, the father of the toddler, said he understood how his wife was feeling.

“If my son had died when he was with her, I would have acted the same way. I just want her to know that I did not kill our baby. I loved him and he was special to me,” he said.

Police said they are treating the matter as an accidental death. Statements have been taken from five people, including witnesses at the scene.

Prince died after suffering burns to 100 percent of his body. He was sitting in the back seat of a two-door Nissan March which his father was repairing when it exploded.

Cpl Coombs of the Brasso Police station is continuing investigations.
