Two suspects affiliated with well-known gangs in Central Trinidad have been arrested and a firearm along with a quantity of ammunition seized by Central Division officers.
This was during anti-gang exercises conducted in the division on Thursday 22nd November, 2018.
Officers first executed a search warrant at a house in Chase Village, Chaguanas, where one suspected gang member was held and a quantity of marijuana seized.
Officers then executed another search warrant at a house in Longdenville, Chaguanas, where another suspected member of a rival gang was held and a quantity of marijuana seized.
Investigations are ongoing in relation to these two arrests.
Officers then proceeded to a location in Claxton Bay, where members of a third gang are said to assemble, and conducted an extensive search of that area.
There, officers found one black .380mm pistol firearm outfitted with a magazine containing five rounds of .380mm ammunition, along with seven rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and eight rounds of .357mm ammunition, hidden in a docked boat.
The exercises were spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Inraj Balram, coordinated by ASP Richard Smith and supervised Sgt. Allan Jodhan, including officers of the Central Special Crime Unit and the Canine Unit.
