Southex has announced that it has been able to reach an agreement with the Mayor of San Fernando, the City Council and by extension the San Fernando City Corporation for the rental of Skinner Park San Fernando for the Chutney Soca Monarch Final.
It says in a statement that the finals will now be retained at Skinner Park, San Fernando, its home for 22 years.
The final takes place on Saturday 27th January.
"Southex would like to thank the Mayor of San Fernando, His Worship, Alderman Junia Regrello for the urgent attention and quick action given to this matter, and we are happy that patrons will be able to enjoy the facilities of Skinner Park, a place we consider to be the ‘Home of Chutney Soca’," the statement said.
Southex said that it has also met with the chairman of the National Carnival Commission (NCC), Colin Lucas, with regards to the use of the infrastructure being put in place for Carnival at Skinner Park.
"While there are many other aspects that are added for our production, we look forward to working closely with the NCC, with whom we have enjoyed an excellent relationship in the past. Everything is now in place and ready for what we are hoping to be a grand, spectacular event on the 27th January," the statement added.
The semi-final takes place on Saturday 13th January at LIV Nightlife, where 34 artistes will be competing for 10 places in the Grand Final.
They will compete against defending champions – Ravi B and Omadath Maharaj.
