Drone technology helped police recover stolen Works Ministry vehicle

Police say drone technology was deployed by the Police Service’s Air Support Unit, to assist officers of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, in the recovery of a white Toyota Fortuner motor vehicle, the property of the Ministry of Works and Transport, which was reported stolen on Monday.

A statement by the police says officers, under the supervision of Sgt. Christopher Swamber, of the Stolen Vehicles Squad, conducted a joint search exercise with the Air Support Unit, led by Sgt. Ronny Rampallard, between 8 am and 10:30 am on Wednesday 25th July, 2018, to locate and recover the stolen vehicle.

Around 10:25 am, drone footage showed the vehicle in an isolated area in Phase 5, Hell Yard, Beetham Gardens, resulting in its recovery.

The vehicle has since been conveyed to the Central Police Station for processing and enquiries are continuing.
