The Ministry of Education has confirmed the suspension of three students at the Diego Martin North Secondary School.

The Ministry says three fires were set, in the male bathroom, female bathroom and a classroom.

The following is the Ministry's statement:

"Three students of the Diego Martin North Secondary School have been suspended after a piece of paper and a washrag was set on fire in the male washroom of the school on Monday 21st March, 2016.

Reports indicate that small amounts of flammable material were also ignited in the female students’ washroom and in a classroom.

In each case, the fire was quickly extinguished by MTS officers without any damage to school property.
Students were confined to their classrooms and searches conducted by a team comprising the Principal, vice Principal, Deans, Safety Officers and MTS Security.  No incendiary devices were found.

Classes resumed and school was dismissed at the normal time.
The Ministry of Education reiterates its zero tolerance approach to indiscipline in schools."
