The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) has given assurances that is working with petroleum dealers to find a solution to the current impasse in the liquid petroleum fuels sector.

In an official statement released yesterday, the ministry noted it was aware of the concerns raised by the Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) and United Independent Petroleum Marketing Company (UNIPET), with respect to operating margins in the sector.

The ministry reports following discussions with the relevant stakeholders and necessary analysis, increases in the operating margins were effected in October 2017.

The energy ministry also notes that it continues to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance in reviewing the suitability of said operating margins, and assures that it is working with all stakeholders to review the matter.
