Six people were arrested while 4 guns, 26 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana were seized during an anti-crime raid in Central Trinidad on Thursday night.
The exercise took place in Couva and was coordinated by Senior Supt Balram, Supt Gill, ASP Pierre, and Sgt Ramdial. Officers from the Couva and Freeport CID, Process section, as well as the K-9 Unit participated in the exercise which lasted from 4 to 9 pm.
During the exercise, several homes in Orange Valley, Lisas Gardens, St Andrews Village and Flamingo Avenue were raided.
By the end of the exercise, officers were able to recover an M&P pistol, two magazines, 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, two Smith and Wesson revolvers, ten rounds of .38 ammunition, a 12 gauge shotgun, two rounds of 12 gauge cartridges and 862 grammes were marijuana.
Among those arrested was a resident of Lalla Trace, Orange Valley who was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and marijuana possession.
Three more suspects of Jade Court, Lisas Gardens, St Andrews Village and Balmatee Street, Lisas Gardens were charged with possession of marijuana. The other two suspects were held on outstanding warrants.
The accused men were expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate to answer the charges.
