Four arrested in Laventille police/army exercise

A joint police/army anti-crime operation was carried out in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday 9th January, 2019, which resulted in the arrest of four persons wanted in connection with recent shootings and woundings and on outstanding warrants, police said in a statement.

The exercise, under ACP (Ag.) Radcliffe Boxill, was executed in the Besson Street Police District and targeted the Laventille area, including Boxhill Trace and Wharton Street. 

During the exercise officers also carried out general searches for arms and ammunition and other illegal items.

Units involved in the operation: Port of Spain Criminal Investigation Department; Guard and Emergency Branch; Inter-Agency Task Force; North Eastern Division Task Force; Canine Unit; and the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit.
