Further delay in restoration of water supply in North East Trinidad

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said Wednesday that customers in parts of North East Trinidad who are currently experiencing an interruption in their pipe borne water supply due to ongoing emergency repair of leaks on its 42 inch diameter North Oropouche Transmission Main, that the time for completion of works has been extended to 12 midnight on Wednesday.

WASA said the delay has been due to unforeseen challenges at the jobsite associated with the extent of damage to the pipeline that was observed upon excavation.

The areas that continue to be affected include:

· Sangre Grande (Town)
· Sangre Chiquito
· Manzanilla
· Coalmine
· Guaico/Guaico Tamana
· Malabar Phases 1,3 & 4
· Tumpuna Road
· San Rafael
· Brazil
· La Horquetta
· Carapo/O’Meara Road
· Signature Park/Mausica Road
· Maloney Gardens
· Five Rivers
· Oropune Gardens
· Millennium Park
· Sunrise Park
· Golden Grove Road

WASA says that following the resumption of operations, it may take up to 24 hours for the service to normalize to some affected areas.
