Heart attack, not crash, killed driver

Dex­ter Pol­lard, the 50-year-old school teacher who was found dead last Fri­day morn­ing af­ter his car crashed in­to a bill­board, died from a heart at­tack.

An au­top­sy con­duct­ed yes­ter­day found that Pol­lard suf­fered the heart at­tack be­fore his car crashed in­to an ad­ver­tis­ing bill­board along the Uri­ah But­ler High­way near the Ca­roni over­pass on Thurs­day night.

Pol­lard, was pulled from the ve­hi­cle on Fri­day morn­ing. He had been dead for hours when fire of­fi­cers fi­nal­ly were able to re­move him from the wrecked car.

Rel­a­tives con­firmed that the re­sults of the au­top­sy, which was con­duct­ed at the Foren­sic Sci­ences Cen­tre on Mon­day.

They be­lieve Pol­lard, of Orop­une Gar­dens, suf­fered car­diac ar­rest while dri­ving. There were re­ports that he con­tact­ed a fam­i­ly friend and com­plained of feel­ing un­well.

Rel­a­tives and po­lice be­lieve this is what caused the car he was dri­ving to spin out of con­trol, flip sev­er­al times be­fore it crashed in­to the ad­ver­tis­ing bill­board where it was ver­ti­cal­ly sus­pend­ed.
