Dexter Pollard, the 50-year-old school teacher who was found dead last Friday morning after his car crashed into a billboard, died from a heart attack.
An autopsy conducted yesterday found that Pollard suffered the heart attack before his car crashed into an advertising billboard along the Uriah Butler Highway near the Caroni overpass on Thursday night.
Pollard, was pulled from the vehicle on Friday morning. He had been dead for hours when fire officers finally were able to remove him from the wrecked car.
Relatives confirmed that the results of the autopsy, which was conducted at the Forensic Sciences Centre on Monday.
They believe Pollard, of Oropune Gardens, suffered cardiac arrest while driving. There were reports that he contacted a family friend and complained of feeling unwell.
Relatives and police believe this is what caused the car he was driving to spin out of control, flip several times before it crashed into the advertising billboard where it was vertically suspended.
