Homeless man shot after attempt attack on police officers

A homeless man has been shot and wounded by a police officer in St Joseph
The incident occurred at about 10.20 am on Monday.
According to a police report, workers of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation were carrying out maintenance works along the Priority Bus Route in the vicinity of Bangladesh when a homeless man began to behave violently towards them.
They subsequently called St Joseph police for security while they do their work.
During the supervision by the officers, the said homeless man again became violent and this time pulled out two cutlasses and attempted to attack the officers. 
One of the officers, in fear for his life and his fellow officers, drew his service pistol and fired one shot hitting the man in the abdomen. 
The homeless man was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Complex where he underwent emergency surgery.
