The North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) says 20 CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations on the compound of the Port of Spain General Hospital.

A statement by the NWRHA says that as a one-month pilot initiative collaboratively undertaken by the NWRHA, the Ministry of Health and the Telecommunications Services of the Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT), the cameras will provide 24-hour surveillance of the hospital.

It says this will augment the security measures currently implemented.

The system features camera topology and video analytics that allow for license plate recognition, facial recognition and removed item detection.

Dual monitoring will occur both at the hospital and at the TSTT Alarm Centre.

The statement says that in addition to supplementing current security measures, this initiative will enable an added sense of safety and security to members of staff and all stakeholders accessing the facility.

The NWRHA says it is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all.
