Ian appears in court

Tuesday, February 16, 2016 - 20:00

Crime Watch Host Ian Alleyne has pleaded not guilty to three charges when he appeared in the Tunapuna Magistrates' Court today.

Alleyne appeared before Magistrate Joanne O'Connor a short time ago following his arrest yesterday.

Alleyne was charged by Inspector Roger Alexander for resisting arrest, using annoying language and obstructing a police officer.

Speaking to CNC3 last night Alleyne described the confrontation with Inspector Roger Alexander as a "ratings war", he also called the charges spurious.

Yesterday Alleyne was forced off the premises of a prominent businessman, and now there are questions about whether Inspector Alexander abused his power through excessive use of force.

A video of the incident shows the Crime Watch Host being slammed against a vehicle, which was dented by the impact.

Ian Alleyne has vowed to clear his name and fight charges laid against him by Inspector Alexander. Alleyne is to reappear in court on March 30th.

The matter is said to have lasted less than a minute.
