Illegal adoption of Venezuela mom's baby 2 attorneys, couple in court

Five peo­ple ap­peared be­fore a Tu­na­puna mag­is­trate Thurs­day morn­ing charged with tak­ing part in the il­le­gal adop­tion of a Venezue­lan in­fant.

Pi­lot Patrick Borel, his wife of 15 years Daniel­la Parinel­lo, Span­ish teacher and trans­la­tor Adri­an­na Rag­bir and at­tor­neys Annabelle Sook­lal-Boynes and Ki­jana De Sil­va were each charged sep­a­rate­ly for breach­ing Sec­tion 9:2 of the Adop­tion Act 2000 by tak­ing part in the arrange­ment of the adop­tion of the ba­by some­time be­tween Ju­ly 31 and Sep­tem­ber 30, 2018, al­though they were not mem­bers of the Chil­dren Au­thor­i­ty, which ex­ists whol­ly or in part for the pur­pose for mak­ing arrange­ments for the adop­tion of chil­dren.

Each ac­cused was re­mand­ed on con­tin­u­ing bail by Mag­is­trate Adri­an Dar­manie, who sat in the Third Court.

At­tor­neys Pamela El­der SC, Kei­th Scot­land, Sub­has Pan­day and Sean Caz­abon rep­re­sent­ed the five ac­cused.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Jan­u­ary 16, 2019.
