A convicted prisoner was found dead in his cell at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca on Monday morning.
However, foul play is not suspected.
A prison official confirmed to the Guardian Media that inmate Jason Jones was found dead in his cell at about 7 am.
It was said that Jones was unwell in recent times.
He was convicted for robbery and was currently serving a two-year imprisonment sentence.
An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the actual cause of death.
