Khan on Emailgate: "Investigate Rowley"

In the wake of the Police Service officially closing the "Emailgate" investigations, attorney Senior Counsel Israel Khan is calling on the Director of Public Prosecutions to now aim his sights on the man who brought the documents to light.

In a news conference Wednesday, Khan called upon the DPP to "request that the police set up a team of officers to investigate the now Prime Minister, the then leader of the Opposition, whether he conspired with a person unknown or a person known in order to pervert the course of public justice."

In 2013, then opposition leader Dr Keith Rowley purported in Parliament that then prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was involved in criminal conduct which included planning the assassination of a Guardian Media journalist.

It also implicated other members of her cabinet such as then-attorney general, Anand Ramlogan. Khan represented Persad-Bissessar in the resulting litigations.
