A La Brea man has been sentenced to 12 months hard-labour after appearing in court today, charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition.
Rodney Hackshaw, 40, of Short Street, appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar, in the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months hard labour for firearm possession and six months for the possession of ammunition offence.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
The accused was arrested by officers of the La Brea Police Station during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district around 12:05 am, on Monday 15th April, 2019, during which they executed a search warrant at his home.
The search resulted in one Colt revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition being discovered in the house.
The accused who was in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested and subsequently charged by PC Riad Hosein, on that same date.
