Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has announced November 28th as the day the country will go to the polls for Local Government Elections.

He made the announcement at today's post-Cabinet news conference.

The last Local Government Election was held in October 2013, when the People's National Movement (PNM) won 8 corporations, the United National Congress (UNC) won 5 and the Chaguanas Corporation was tied with the UNC getting two seats, the ILP getting one and the PNM one.

However, the then ILP candidate, Faaiq Mohammed voted in favour of the UNC's nominee for mayor, giving the UNC control of the corporation.

He later crossed the floor to the UNC.
