One man was arrested and quantities of narcotics and cash seized by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Eastern Division over the weekend.
Reports are that during the exercise—which was conducted on Saturday 16th November 2019—the SORT officers proceeded to an apartment at Foster Road, La Seiva, Sangre Grande, where they executed a search warrant.
The search resulted in the discovery of 351 grammes of cocaine, 253.3 grammes of marijuana and $30,000 in cash, on the premises. A male suspect, who was in the apartment at the time of the exercise, was arrested in connection with the discovery.
In a separate incident, the same team of officers, acting on information, proceeded to an abandoned lot of land at Toco Main Road, Sangre Grande, around 2:20 am, on Sunday 17th November 2019.
There, they conducted a search which resulted in one revolver, 13 rounds of live ammunition and four spent shells being discovered.
Investigations are ongoing.
