Nishal Sankat's family: We have not spoken to our son

The family of Nishal Sankat, the Trinidadian born aviation student charged with attempting to steal an American Airlines Airbus is now focused on providing support to him.

According to a statement, the emphasis at this time is ensuring all the legal, mental, emotional and parental support reaches the 22-year-old.

Nishal, the son of former University of the West Indies Principal Professor Clement Sankat was arrested and charged with attempting to steal a plane at a Florida Airport yesterday morning. 

Sankat was charged with criminal theft of an aircraft, criminal trespassing and visa violation hours after us authorities claimed he allegedly hopped a fence at the Melbourne International Airport in Florida and boarded a commercial aeroplane in a maintenance hangar.
