No bail for men charged with abducting, raping two women

Two men charged with abducting, raping and robbing two women have been denied bail.

Jerod Boysie also called Raymond Abdool, 20, a mechanic, of Debe and Joshua Williams, 31, a construction worker, appeared before San Fernando First Court Magistrate Alicia Chankar this morning charged with several offences arising out of the incident on December 29, 2018.

It is alleged that with other persons, they kidnapped the women at Diamond Village, San Fernando. It is further alleged that at the M2 Ring Road, Debe, they raped the women and committed grievous sexual assault on them.

It is also alleged that armed with a firearm they robbed the women.

They were not called upon to plea to the charges. Both men had a criminal record.

Boysie was represented by attorney Ainsley Lucky who asked for bail.

However, prosecutor Cleyon Seedan objected to bail citing the seriousness of the offence and that they would have allegedly committed these offences while on bail.

Agreeing that charges were very serious, the magistrate remanded them into custody.

The matter was adjourned to February 6.
