PCA commends police officers involved in 2016 murder investigation

The Police Complaints Authority is commending police officers who conducted the investigations into the murder of the Adalle Gilbert in 2016.

Two police officers were charged with Gilbert's death.

The PCA issued the following statement on Wednesday.

"The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) wishes to commend the officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region III of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) for their diligence and effort throughout their investigation into the death of Adalle Gilbert.

It is alleged that Mr. Gilbert was fatally shot by police officers on October 20, 2016 and on 21st August, 2018, two police officers were charged for his murder.

Upon receiving information about the shooting of Mr. Gilbert, the PCA initiated a rigorous exercise of monitoring the investigation of the TTPS and has been continuously liaising with Senior Superintendent Galindo of the Homicide Bureau and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The PCA takes this opportunity assure the public and to remind police officers that we shall continue to hold police officers accountable in circumstances where they have committed criminal offences, police corruption, serious police misconduct and for matters related thereto."
