Local political parties say they are ready for Local Government Elections (LGE) 2019, which are scheduled to take place on Monday December 2nd.
On Friday, during the Opposition Leader’s response to the 2020 Budget Presentation, the Prime Minister’s Office released a brief statement confirming the date for the local government elections.
Over the weekend, the People’s National Movement (PNM) announced that it has completed its screening exercise for the upcoming election. The party indicated that candidates for all 139 electoral districts have been selected and are out in the field.
And the United National Congress (UNC) also has stated that it too, has completed its screening of candidates to contest the local government polls. UNC PRO, Senator Anita Haynes, confirmed today that the party has been engaged in training all proposed nominees and selected candidates for the elections.
