The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission, T&TEC has urged customers in Trinidad to conserve electricity, as the National Gas Company (NGC) conducts expansion work on its network, which it said could result in a loss of electricity.
The commission said the work is scheduled to take place on Sunday December 8, from 7 am to 3 pm.
In a statement yesterday T&TEC said the work has the potential to affect NGC’s supply of gas to the Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) Power Station.
And, it said, in the unlikely event that the NGC’s work does affect its gas supply to TGU, it may result in a temporary loss of electricity supply to customers across Trinidad.
The commission said as a precaution it is appealing to customers to minimise their use of non-essential, high-energy appliances and equipment, such as air-conditioning units, dryers and water-heaters, to reduce the risk of load shedding on Sunday, between the hours of hours of the planned expansion works.
