Private airport security supervisor arrested for possession of cocaine

Andrea Berment, 44, of Kelly Village, Caroni, is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Ms Berment a supervisor employed with Intercept Security Ltd, which provides security services, for one of the airlines operating out of Piarco airport was arrested by officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit at the airport.

According to police reports after receiving an anonymous tip, officers attached to the OCIU went to the airport where they conducted a search of the suspects' handbag. 

The search resulted in a brown envelope being discovered with two plastic packages containing a total of 33 grammes of cocaine.

The drug has an estimated street value of $15,312. 

Berment was charged by OCIU officers on 5th August 2018.
