An issue with the filter system at the Caroni Water Treatment Plant is responsible for the disruption in water supply being experienced in several areas across the country.
WASA says this situation has resulted in reduced production at the plant from the normal 75 million gallons per day to approximately 60 million gallons per day.
WASA says it is presently engaged in carrying out emergency repair works at the plant which was expected to be completed today.
Once completed production is anticipated to increase to 70 million gallons per day.
Permanent rehabilitation works are expected to be completed over the next two weeks after which full production of 75 million gallons per day will be achieved.
