PTSC starts free North-South service

The Public Transportation Service Corporation says it will be providing free shuttle service to and from Port-of-Spain and San Fernando today for those who need transportation.

This service started at 8 am for the Port-of-Spain to San Fernando route leaving at City Gate and immediately on the San Fernando to Port-of-Spain route, leaving at the Bus Terminal.

The service will continue every hour.

The PTSC has been forced to ramp up its service as many pedestrians trying to travel across the country have found themselves stranded as taxis, maxis and PH vehicles operating in several parts of the country have also pulled their services due to flooding.

Apart from this, sedans and low vehicles are unable to make it through the flood waters between Munroe Road, Chaguanas and the Grand Bazaar Interchange on the Uriah Butler Highway.

The southbound lane of the highway is still impassable and police stationed at the Interchange are now only allowing trucks and high SUVs which they determine capable of making it through on the northbound lane, which still has water as high as three feet in the flooded area.
