News that the family of former president George Maxwell Richards has accepted to offer of a state funeral to be conducted in his honour.
Richards, who served as the country’s fourth president from 2003 to 2013, was admitted to the Westshore Medical Private Hospital after noon yesterday.
There, doctors discovered that that 86-year-old Richards, had an unusual heartbeat.
Richards who died around 7.43 p.m was said to be responsive and in high spirits before before his passing.
CNC3 News spoke with the former president's daughter Maxine Richards, who says her family received a request for a state funeral from the Ministry of National Security today.
She adds that her family has consented to the hosting of a state funeral adding that a date is yet to be confirmed.
