Three brothers held in police exercise

Early morning ‘Operation Strike Back’ exercises which were conducted in the Eastern Division, have resulted in the arrest of four persons, including three brothers and the seizure of a firearm and quantities of ammunition and marijuana.

The exercises were conducted in the early hours of Friday 12th October, 2018 in the Matura, Toco and Sangre Grande policing districts.

They were coordinated by Snr. Supt. Garth Nelson, supervised by ASP (Ag.) Gabriel Joseph and Insp. Ken Lutchman and included officers of the Eastern Division Task Force.

A total of eleven search warrants were executed at various houses in the Division. 

During one such incident at the Primus Street, Salybia home of a 23-year-old man, officers found and seized one Taurus pistol loaded with a magazine containing nine rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with 403 grammes of marijuana.

The suspect who was in the house at the time of the exercise, along with his 27 and 20-year-old brothers, also of the same address, was arrested in connection with the finds.

Officers then proceeded to La Guira Gardens, Matura, where they executed a search warrant at the home of a 34-year-old man. The search resulted in 161 grammes of marijuana being discovered and seized.

The man was arrested in connection with the find.
