Tunapuna man appears in court for murder

Echeverria Sandy a 42-year-old joiner of Upper Tunapuna Road, Tunapuna appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate today charged with the murder of 31-year-old Keaton Elahie.

He was remanded into custody after he stood before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine to answer to the charge. 

According to police reports, Mr Eliharie, of Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, was liming at a bar along Cipero Street, San Fernando on October 27th when he got into an altercation with a man. 

During the altercation, the victim was shot several times.

 The suspect escape by running away. Mr Eliharie was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment however, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. 

Subsequent investigations were led by PC Vialva, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3, and resulted in Sandy being charged with murder, following advice received by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecution Joan HonorePaul, on November 30th.

 Investigations were supervised by ASP (Ag.) Winchester and Insp. (Ag.) Corrie, of HBI Region 3. 

The matter has been adjourned to 18th December.
