Two arrested for forging documents to secure bail

Derick Maloney a 57-year man old from Laventille and St. Martin Bahadeosingh a 56 year old man from Carapichaima have been charged with using forged documents while attempting to bail out a friend.

Maloney and Mahadeosingh were arrested at the Tunapuna Magistrates Court on May 22nd and were later charged with indemnifying the surety of bail for criminal proceedings and 10 counts of uttering forged documents, respectively.

According to police reports, an Acting Clerk of the Peace II was carrying out transactions when two men tendered several fraudulent documents to secure bail for an inmate.

The Clerk proceeded to report the incident to a nearby police officer, who immediately arrested the suspects at the scene.

Both men were taken to the Fraud Squad Port of Spain office, where investigations were carried out under the supervision of Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Greenidge.

Maloney and Mahadeosingh were subsequently charged by Cpl. Hosein, of the Fraud Squad. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on June 4th.
