Police are now investigating two separate murders which occurred overnight.
In the latest incident, one man was killed and another has been hospitalised following a shooting incident at El Socorro, San Juan, early Thursday.
According to police reports, at around 2.58 am residents at Shaquille Trace heard a series of gunshots and subsequently called the police.
When police arrived they found one man dead in the back seat of a Suzuki Ignis. He was reportedly shot at 12 times. The shots appeared to come from inside the car from the front seat. The car's back windscreen was shattered. The other man who was the driver of the car was taken to the hospital, residents said.
Residents told police they did not recognise the dead man or the vehicle and said based on where the car was parked and positioned to turn, it was clear the driver did not know the short road either.
Investigators said they found cold beers and warm food in a box on the dashboard of the vehicle, leading them to suspect the men involved in the incident had been dropping someone home following a night out.
The identification of the dead man has not yet been released.
In another incident, a man identified as Shervin David, 32, was shot and killed at Teelucksingh Street, Couva, overnight.
And in an unrelated incident in Sangre Grande, police are probing the shooting of 18-year-old Jamia Taylor Thursday morning.
Residents at Madoosingh Drive said they heard gunshots around 8 am and called the police. Officers found Taylor bleeding from two gunshots wounds when they arrived. She was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for treatment and was listed in critical condition.
In another incident in Arima, Randy Sookoo, 18, was shot several times about the body at Dump Road around 3 am Thursday. He was subsequently taken to hospital in critical condition.
Police are also probing the overnight shooting on Anthony Alexander, 49, at Five Rivers, Arouca. He was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition.
More on these stories as information comes to hand.
