Dozens of women police officers will be leading a march through the capital city today.
The lunch-time procession commemorates International Women’s Day observed on March 8th every year.
According to the network of Non-Government Organisations, this year’s theme focuses on rural women and girls.
According to a statement from the network, this year’s march comes at a time of unprecedented global movement for women and girls’ rights, gender equality and justice, sexual harassment, gender-based violence and discrimination.
This year’s march will kick off with a rally at Woodford Square followed by a lunchtime march through the streets of Port-of-Spain.
The network is expected to renew its call for the national gender policy which has been 30 years in the making.
