The 'Fantasy' is over

The Fantasy is over.

Fantasy Carnival will not produce a band for next year's Carnival, the band announced on Thursday.

In a statement titled, "Farewell to the Road", Fantasy thanked masqueraders for their support over the last eight years.

"For the last 8 years Fantasy Carnival has become a household name in Mas in Trinidad and Tobago," the statement said.

It added: "After much consideration, the management of the band has decided to shift their focus to other projects, as such, we're saying Farewell to the Road!"

Saint Lucia Jazz ends on high note of praise

Sounds of praise went up on Sun­day from the fi­nal venue which host­ed the grand fi­nale of the 2019 Saint Lu­cia Jazz Fes­ti­val.

Shangri-La Es­tate in Rod­ney Bay, Saint Lu­cia, was the home to Chris­tians and non-Chris­tians alike who came out to sup­port and en­joy the fi­nal show of the six-day fes­ti­val which be­gan last Tues­day.

From far, some of the el­der­ly came with their walk­ers, while fam­i­lies brought pic­nic blan­kets and chairs to make their time spent "in the house of God" a com­fort­able one.

In her clear, crisp voice, five-time Gram­my-award win­ner Di­anne Reeves man­aged to get all the way to the end of her trib­ute song to her moth­er, ti­tled “I Re­mem­ber,” be­fore she briefly broke down at Jazz at the Lin­coln Cen­ter, The Ramp, Rod­ney Bay, at the Saint Lu­cia Jazz Fes­ti­val. Be­fore pre­sent­ing the of­fer­ing on Fri­day night, she told the au­di­ence the day marked the an­niver­sary of her moth­er’s tran­si­tion–a woman who in many ways, she said, was the pil­lar that held her up.

Mya cops Point Fortin Borough Queen title

Eigh­teen-year-old Mya Bartholomew of Aripero Vil­lage, Rousil­lac was crowned Miss Point Fortin Bor­ough Queen 2019.

The Up­per Six pupil of Holy Faith Con­vent, Pe­nal drew a step clos­er to take the ti­tle at the Point Fortin East Sec­ondary School as she ap­peared in each seg­ment of the show last Sat­ur­day.

Each del­e­gate on the night of the show rep­re­sent­ed a Caribbean coun­try. Bartholomew rep­re­sent­ed Do­mini­ca.

It's now an easy road - Buju gets official clearance into T&T

National Security Minister Stuart Young, has approved the entry into Trinidad and Tobago of entertainers, Buju Banton, Wayne Wonder and Luciano ahead of Sunday's "I Am Legend" concert.

The approval is for the period April 19 to 22, 2019.

The statement from the Ministry of National Security said that it is to facilitate the trio’s performance in the concert at the Queen’s Park Savannah on April 21.
