One pundit is calling for a probe into the financial operations of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, following news of the current probe into the Third Exodus Assembly Church in Longdenville.
According to Pundit Satyanand Maharaj, Spiritual Leader at the Satya Ananad Ashram in Aranguez, the State needs to embark on a serious examination of all religious institutions, in light of this situation.
In a press release, Pundit Maharaj also takes the Inter-Religious Organisation and other religious bodies to task for remaining silent on the issue.
Agriculture Minister, Senator Clarence Rambharat, has confirmed that he was the one to request that the Finance Ministry carry out the audit of the Agriculture Society of Trinidad and Tobago (ASTT), because there is cause for concern.
Minister Rambharat says he was led to do so after numerous reports and allegations were made about irregularities under the tenure of current ASTT president, Dhano Sookoo's.
He notes that even his predecessor ministers had been dealing allegations of irregularities at the ASTT.
The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) says it is monitoring recent incidents in which mentally-challenged persons were shot by police officers.
The PCA says it intends to audit the current investigations into these shootings.

"The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) is aware of several incidents involving fatal and nonfatal police related shootings involving mentally ill individuals Paul Marchan, Daniel Paul and Edison Thompson within the last four (4) months.
