The decomposing body of a woman was found by Forestry workers, floating by in the Mitan River, Manzanilla on Friday morning.
Reports indicate that Forestry employee Mohan Kemraj and a gang of workers were in the process of clearing the river banks in the area when they noticed what appeared to be a human body wrapped in plastic, floating in the water.
They made their way out to the main road where they flagged down a passing police vehicle.

The body of a 27-year-old man has been discovered on the sea-shore in Mayaro.
It's believe that he drowned after disappearing in the water on Sunday.
Police have identified the man as Trevin Lalla of Balmain, Couva.
He was discovered around 6.30 am on by a passerby, in the vicinity of JR Animal Farm, Grand Lagoon, Mayaro.
The Mayaro police were then contacted.
Lalla went missing around 4.45pm on Sunday while bathing with friends in the vicinity of New Lands Village, Guayaguayare beach.
Relatives said that Lalla did not know how to swim.
The police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a man which washed up on the shore of a Manzanilla Beach today.
According to police reports, shortly after midday, the half-naked body of a man of East Indian descent was found on the shore by residents.
The body bore two puncture wounds to the chest, and as such, the police are treating the case as a homicide. It was only clad in a T-shirt.
The body is of dark complexion and is an estimated 5’8” tall. The police believe he was between the ages of 40 to 50 years-old.
An autopsy has ruled out fears that a 20-year-old man found buried and wrapped in plastic in the Matura forest, was buried alive.
Police had feared that Donald Pierre, whose body was found yesterday evening, had been buried alive.
However an autopsy conducted this morning found a single bullet wound to his head, which killed Pierre before he was buried.

Police say a man from East Trinidad led a team of officers attached to the Homicide and Inter-Agency Bureas to a quarry in the dense forested area in Matura Village, where he pointed out to an area where a man's body was buried.
Late Monday evening, officers used a backhoe to dig into the loose quarry dirt and discovered the decomposing body.
