Five-time World Cup winners, Brazil are through to the knockout round of the competition after a comfortable 2-0 win over Serbia today.

Goals from Paulinho in the 26th minute and Thiago Silva in the 68th, saw Brazil maintain the top place in Group E.

Brazil will now face Mexico in the round of 16 on Monday at 10 am.

Switzerland will be the next team through in this group, after 2-2 draw with Costa Rica.

Gold for T&T in Women's Bikini Fitness competition in Brazil

A win for Trinidad and Tobago in the Women's Bikini Fitness competition in Brazil.

Jenna De Leon, 25, of Trinidad and Tobago, competed in the competition in São Paulo Brazil during April 21st to 23rd 2017 and won the Women's Bikini Fitness 1.69 cm category.

The show is called 'The Arnold Classic Brazil'.

De Leon is the first female Trinidad and Tobago national to win gold at the Arnold Classic.

She first started competing in June 2016.

Having competed in eight shows she has won seven thus far.

Government maintains ban of Brazilian meats

The Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries is maintaining the ban on meats from Brazil.

The ministry says Trinidad and Tobago's ambassador to Brazil Dr Amery Browne is speaking to agricultural officials there on the issue but for now the ban remains.

"The temporary restriction on imports and retail sales of all meat products from Brazil remains in place pending the outcome of ongoing talks with the Brazilian government about its food-safety standards.

The Senate voted 61-20 on Wednesday to dismiss the leftist leader, confirming her conservative Vice President Michel Temer as president for the remainder of her term through 2018.

Suspended Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff defends herself as impeachment trial begins

Suspended President Dilma Rousseff told the Senate on Monday the future of Brazil was at stake in her impeachment trial as her conservative opponents were using trumped-up charges to oust her and roll back the social advances of the past 13 years.

The leftist leader, appearing before the Senate to defend herself in a process expected to remove her from office this week, said Brazil's economic elite and political opposition had sought to destabilize her government since her 2014 re-election.

Sweden beat Brazil to reach final women Olympic football

Sweden ended Brazil's women's dreams of a first Olympic football gold medal on Tuesday with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win to book their place in the gold medal match.

Cristiane, the Olympics' all-time top scorer, and Andressa saw spot-kicks saved by Hedvig Lindahl after neither side could score a goal in 120 minutes.

Lisa Dahlkvist converted the winning penalty to secure a place in the final and Sweden's first women's football Olympic medal.

Sweden had previously knocked out world powerhouse the USA prior to this game.
