Teen girl among three dead in Carenage shootout.

Three people were killed and six others, including a police officer, were wounded during a shootout between Western Division officers and residents of Big Yard in Carenage this evening, police have confirmed in a statement.

Residents say a teenage girl and the godson of Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley are among the dead.

The TTPS said in a statement that officers on patrol in Carenage were attempting to arrest a suspect when a man opened fire on the officers.

Police hunt for Carenage gunmen

Po­lice are search­ing for a group of gun­men who opened fire on them at Up­per Haig Street, Care­nage on Fri­day.

Sev­er­al units from the Emer­gency Re­sponse Team re­spond­ed and joined in the search af­ter of­fi­cers called for back up.

A se­nior of­fi­cer of the West­ern Di­vi­sion de­nied re­ports that three peo­ple were shot dead. He al­so dis­missed re­ports that a po­lice of­fi­cer was shot.

Carenage man charged with murder

A Carenage man has appeared before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of David Coltes.

The murder occurred on Wednesday 1st August, 2018.

Isaiah Antoine aka ‘Pieyo’, a 29-year-old labourer of Haig Street, Carenage has also been charged with wounding with intent, possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He was remanded into custody after he appeared before Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle in the Port-of-Spain 8th Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 3rd October, 2018.

AR-15 rifle found in Carenage

Police have seized an AR-15 rifle in an exercise in Carenage.

According to report, officers of the Western Division Task Force conducted anti-crime exercise at Upper Big Yard, Carenage, coordinated by Sgt Arneaud around 4 am on Saturday.

The officers executed a search warrant at a house and one AR-15 rifle, along with 15 rounds of 5.56 ammunition were found and seized.

Three men ages 19- 24 years were arrested and charged.

 

Man killed in Carenage

One man is dead and another warded at the hospital following a shooting incident in Carenage.

CNC3 news understands around 2 am 23-year-old  David Coltis and 18-year-old Jordel Slater were liming with a group of friends when a gunman approached and opened fire on them. 

The incident is said to have occurred near the apartment houses opposite smith hill in Carenage. 

Coltis was hit in the chest and Slater was shot in the left leg. 

Coltis died on the scene, whilst slater is hospitalized in a stable condition.

EMA investigates oil spill in Carenage

The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) is investigating an oil spill at the Carenage Jetty, near the Carenage fishing facilities. 

The presence of an oily substance and contamination of the coastline on the shoreline and in the nearshore area by the Carenage Fishing Centre, that is, the fishing depot under construction just after Haig Street, were observed on Tuesday. 

The EMA says it also conducted a shoreline impact assessment at Williams Bay near the Chaguaramas boardwalk at 6:50 pm, however, there was no evidence of oil on the shoreline or in the water.
