Traffic restrictions along Western Main Road Carenage

Traffic restrictions have been put in place by WASA to facilitate the repair of a sewer main along the western main road in Carenage.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) advises motorists and members of the general public of traffic restrictions along the Western Main Road, Carenage, in the vicinity of Bain Street, to facilitate emergency repairs to the sewer main in the area.

Carenage taxi fares increasing next week

If you are traveling to Carenage from Port-of-Spain from November 1st you can expect increased fees.

That's according to the Diego Martin, Petit Valley and Carenage Taxi Association which announced today it will raise its fee from the capital city to $7 and all short drops to $5.

And President of the Association Adrian Nicholls said the increase is long overdue.

Murder in Carenage

A 20-year- old man has been shot and killed in Carenage.

Reports indicate that around 2;15 am today, Tyler Alexis was at his home at Fitz Alleyne Street, Point Cumuna, Carenage when a gunman broke into the premises entered his bedroom and opened fire.

Tyler's mother who was home at the time heard the commotion and called the police.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered Alexis' motionless body with several gunshot wounds.

Investigations are ongoing.

 

Carenage man in court for allegedly attempting to board Barbados flight with cocaine worth $1.9 million

A Carenage man has appeared before an Arima Magistrate, charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, after he attempted to board a flight to Barbados, with the drug concealed in his luggage.

Marlon John, 40, a promoter, of Upper L’anse Mitan Road, Carenage, was at the Piarco International Airport around 5:10 pm on Saturday 20th May, 2017, preparing to board a flight to Barbados, when he was stopped at a security checkpoint.

The suspect’s luggage was checked and two packages containing 4.18 kilogrammes of cocaine were allegedly found concealed inside.

Police seize gun found hidden under bridge

Police have found a revolver hidden under a bridge in Carenage.

According to reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force acted upon information and proceeded to the underneath of a bridge at Upper Lanse Mitan Road, Carenage around 9pm Monday.

The officers found a .38 special revolver containing six rounds of ammunition.

No one was arrested.

Police seize firearm, drugs and ammunition

One firearm, ammunition, and drugs have been seized during a police exercise.

On Monday, officers of the western division task force executed a search warrant at a house located at Riverside Drive, La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin where a quantity of packets each containing marijuana was found and seized, one person was arrested.

Second time unlucky for Carenage businessman

A Carenage businessman who escaped with his life after being repeatedly stabbed at his home on August 18th, was stabbed this morning at his home at Moya Trace, off Haig Street, Carenage.

42-year-old Raul Joseph was stabbed repeatedly by an intruder who stormed the family's home around 2.45 am.

Woman stabbed to death in Carenage

One woman is dead and her common-law husband fighting for his life after an incident this morning at their Carenage home.

According to reports around 2am, the couple's daughter was awoken by screams coming from the master bedroom.

Upon investigating she found her mother, Andrea Edwards lying in a pool of blood, with several stab wounds about her body. 

She died on the scene. 

The girl's father, Rawl Savory, was rushed to West Shore Medical Centre where he is said to be in a critical condition.

Homicide officers are continuing investigations.
