'Our chicken is safe' - US Embassy issues assurance on imported poultry

The United States Embassy is seeking to assure citizens that chicken imported from the United States is safe for consumption.

In a statement issued today, the US Embassy says that Trinidad and Tobago consumers can eat U.S. poultry with full confidence.

It states that the United States takes food safety very seriously and that all U.S. exports of poultry must, by law, be inspected and only poultry produced in federally-inspected plants and receiving the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) mark of inspection can be exported.
