TTPS makes cocaine bust on CARICOM Wharf

A man has been arrested and a quantity of cocaine and cash seized during an exercise conducted at the CARICOM Jetty, Queens Wharf, Port of Spain, on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, officers of the Specialized Intelligence Unit and Port Police Department were conducting checks when they observed the driver of a vehicle acting suspiciously.

A search was conducted and a quantity of cocaine wrapped in a black bag was discovered, along with TT$7,500 in cash.

The items were seized and the driver of the vehicle arrested.

Investigations are ongoing.

Five Held in Central Division anti-crime exercise

Five  persons  were  arrested  and  a  bulletproof  vest,  a  pair  of  camouflage pants,  two  masks  and  a  quantity  of  cocaine  seized  by  officers  of  the Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Chaguanas district yesterday.

The  exercise was  conducted  between 2:30pm and 7:00pm, on Wednesday 5th February 2020, and was  supervised  by  Snr.  Supt.  (Ag.)  Hunte,  Supt.  (Ag.)  Mystar, ASP  Smith,  Insp.  Jordan  and  Sgt.  Stewart. 

Cops find firearms and narcotics in Couva

Central Division Police have found illegal firearms and a quantity of narcotics in the Couva District, during an anti-crime exercise, yesterday.

The exercise was conducted 3pm and 6pm.

According to official police reports, officers of the Central Division proceeded to Mc Bean Village, where they conducted a search of an area known for illegal activities.

There, they discovered and seized two pistols and 267 grammes of cocaine, which were hidden in a black plastic bag.

Central Division Police continue crackdown on illegal guns and drugs

Central Division Police Officers continued their crackdown on illegal guns and drugs with another anti-crime exercise on Thursday 16 January 2020.

During  the  exercise,  officers  proceeded  to  Bolai  Trace  East,  Chase Village, where they  conducted a search of a bushy area,  which resulted in the discovery of two  revolvers  and  three  rounds  of  ammunition.

Quantities of marijuana and cocaine also were found.

“Young people should not be allowed to topple into a state of drug dependency because of neglect by the relevant authorities.”

That statement from Debbie Boodhan, the newly elected Councillor for Montrose in the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, who believes the recently passed cannabis legislation should be dealt with properly, in order that young people may not see marijuana as a solution for their frustration and pressure.

Man arrested; SORT seizes gun, ammo, cash & narcotics

One man was arrested and quantities of narcotics and cash seized by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Eastern Division over the weekend.

Reports are that during the exercise—which was conducted on Saturday 16th November 2019—the SORT officers proceeded to an apartment at Foster Road, La Seiva, Sangre Grande, where they executed a search warrant.

Coast Guard: millions in narcotics intercepted in 2019

An estimated $110 million worth of narcotics has been seized by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) for the year so far.

During a maritime operations patrol and media tour today, acting commanding officer of the TTCG, Don Polo, said just over 900 kilograms of marijuana and cocaine have been found in vessels intercepted by the coast guard.

Meanwhile, according to the acting commander, following the closure of the Venezuelan registration, over 400 Venezuelan nationals were detained and handed over to the Immigration Division.

$120 million in cocaine found attached to ship's rudder

Customs and Coast Guard officials have discovered close to $120 million worth of cocaine hidden below a foreign tanker that was docked at the Atlantic Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) port in Point Fortin, sometime on Wednesday morning.

The vessel has been identified as 'Hispania Spirit' and this is not the first time that the vessel has been found with cocaine.

On September 8, 2015, Coast Guard officials found 211 kilogrammes of cocaine in a compartment aboard the vessel in Pisco, Peru and was detained by authorities.

Cocaine worth $9 Million found at Point Lisas Port

Police are on the hunt for an Arima Businessman, after 23 pounds of cocaine were seized at the Port of Point Lisas on Friday bound for St. Martin. Police say the illegal drug carries a street value of nine million TT dollars.
Reports say around midday, Customs Officers were scanning a container at the port when they picked up something suspicious. The container was taken to the examination station. There Custom Officers noticed what appeared to be cocaine hidden inside the container loaded with foodstuff.

Police bust crack cocaine lab in Carapichaima

A Carapichaima man was arrested and a quantity of crack cocaine and other items seized by officers of the Chaguanas CID and Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the district, yesterday.

Officers led by ASP Richard Smith, proceeded to the Primrose Avenue, Roopsingh Road home of a 42-year-old man around 8:30am on Sunday, where they executed a search warrant for dangerous drugs.
