San Juan man appears in court charged with murder

Nathan Tenia, a 43-year-old San Juan jeweller, charged with the murder of Romero Serrette appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate yesterday, to answer to the charge.

According to police reports, on October 19th, first responders responded to a report of wounding at Dainty Road, San Juan.

On their arrival at 2:47 am on the said date, they discovered the body of Romeo Serette lying motionless on the western side of the road, with what appeared to be a wound to the head and blood oozing from the wound.

Police probe two murders, two hours apart

Homicide detectives are investigating two unrelated murders that took place in North Trinidad on Sunday night, within the space of two hours.

In the later incident, shortly after 9 pm, Derrick Valentine, 33, of Covigne Road, Diego Martin, was at his home with his family when two gunmen men stormed into the house.

The men then opened fire, shooting Valentine multiple times about the body before escaping.

Valentine was taken to the St James infirmary where he died while undergoing emergency treatment.

Police find arms and ammunition in Diego Martin

The T&T Police Service is reporting the discovery of a quantity of arms and ammunition during a Strike Back Operation in the Diego Martin district on Thursday.

According to police reports, the arms and ammunition were found in a bushy area in the Patna Village.

3 arrested for robbery, 2 wearing police gear

Three men currently are in police custody following a robbery in the San Juan area, in the wee hours of this morning.

CNC3 News understands that one of the men in police custody has connections to a special reserve police officer.

Details are still coming in, but initial reports are that at about 3:30 am, officers from the Emergency Response Patrol, the North-East Division Task Force and the San Juan CID, responded to a report of a robbery at #23 Silver Mill in San Juan.
