Three hurt as cement truck falls on car in Tobago

Police are investigating a major accident in Tobago which has left three people injured.

Police say a cement truck was proceeding along the roadway near Hope when it encountered a low-lying cable.

One eyewitness said the truck flipped in the air and landed on its side on top of a car trapping those inside.

First responders are currently on the scene.

The accident has caused a massive traffic pile-up in the area.

Hope is located just a few miles east of Scarborough.

Fishermen shacks destroyed by fire

Fire destroyed 11 fishermen shacks at Kings Wharf, San Fernando on Monday night, leaving over $200,000 in losses. 

Among the items burnt were two vehicles, boat engines, household items, tools and fish storage coolers.

President of the San Fernando Fishing Cooperative said the fishermen were out at sea when they saw the flames in the coast. 

Dhanraj Goolcharan said he immediately picked up his nets and came back to his place only to see the line of shacks burning.

Firefighters were on spot trying to contain the blaze.

Fire guts century-old building in Princes Town

One of the old­est build­ings in Princes Town has been de­stroyed in a fire.

Po­lice said Car­los Bar on High Street, caught fire around 3 am on Mon­day.

One of the prop­er­ty own­ers Sheri­dan Mo­hammed said he was un­cer­tain what caused the fire.

“At this point, we are think­ing it could have been an elec­tri­cal prob­lem,” Mo­hammed said even though there were no pow­er surges or no­tice­able elec­tri­cal mal­func­tion­ing pri­or to the blaze.

Autopsy: Baby Prince succumbed to toxic smoke inhalation

Three-year-old Prince Francette, who died after being trapped in his father's car during an explosion in Tabaquite, succumbed to toxic smoke inhalation.

This was revealed during an autopsy conducted at the San Fernando mortuary on Monday. Francette,  suffered burns to 100 percent of his body after his father's two-door Nissan March exploded on Friday.

During an interview yesterday, Justin Francette said the autopsy vindicated him.

Father shares tear-jerking video of son who died in explosion

The father of three-year-old Prince Francette who died after his father's car exploded on Friday, has shared tear-jerking video and photos of him on his Facebook page.

Justin Francette posted four videos today as he tries to come to terms with the grief of his son's passing.

He stated: "I always cherished every moment I spent with u...Bbz u will always b my prince and ik u will b looking at me from heaven making sure ur daddy is strong .....I Love u bbz and would never do anything to loose u......Hmmm this is very hard Bt imma stay strong just for u Prince baby ...RIP."

A 3-year-old child is barely holding on to life after suffering 4th-degree burns when his father's car exploded in Tabaquite.

Prince Fracette, 3, of 21 Cito Lane, Tabaquite, is now at the San Fernando General Hospital where doctors are desperately attempting to save his life.

Man shoots himself in head in senseless game gone bad

A Diego Martin man is now dead after shooting himself in his head, in what appeared to be a bad game gone wrong.

Ben Ambrose was at Union Road in Diego Martin when he accidentally shot himself in the head.

According to reports, Ambrose was with a friend and put the gun to his head as a joke.

The friend warned him not to play with the gun because it was loaded.

However, Ambrose thought it was all a joke and continued to pull the trigger.

He died at the scene.

Police are continuing investigations.

 

Car plunges off top floor of Price Plaza carpark

A 37-year-old Valsayn man is in hospital after his car plunged off the top floor of the carpark at Price Plaza, Chaguanas.

Darren John was rushed to the Chaguanas Health Facility around 3.20 Wednesday morning with spinal injuries.

He was later transferred to the Mt Hope hospital.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred after John lost money at a casino in Chaguanas.
