Woman killed in Enterprise

The sister of a woman police officer was killed in front of her home in Enterprise, as she was leaving to drop her teen daughter to school, early on Thursday morning.

Reports are that 38-year-old Alana Mohammed was reversing her black Toyota Corrolla out of her yard at Dass Branch Road, when gunmen opened fire on her.

The car was shot up more than six times.

Alana Mohammed was fatally struck. Her daughter, 14, was shot and wounded.

The daughter, accompanied by her father—who is a car business owner—was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Decomposing body found in Enterprise

Police are on the scene where a decomposing body was found at Crown Trace, Enterprise.

According to a police report, at about 11 am, police officers were notified that a body was found in a drain at the back of a property that houses an ice cream shop.

Whilst police say they are not sure how the man died, they got information from neighbours that the man is known to suffer from epileptic attacks.

Police believe the man suffered a seizure while in the backyard and may have fallen into a water-filled drain.

His identity has not been released to the media

Court riot stabber pleads guilty, sentenced to jail

A prisoner who stabbed another prisoner on Tuesday whilst in the holding cell block of the Chaguanas Magistrates' Court, has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment, 12 of which will be hard labour.

Nigel McSween, 33, of Pierre Trace in Enterprise, was charged for maliciously wounding Makeel Simon, 29, of Kestrel Boulevard, Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas.

McSween also was charged for having a shank (an improvised weapon) in his possession.

When called upon by First Court Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan, McSween pleaded guilty to the offences.

Central Division Police continue crackdown on illegal guns and drugs

Central Division Police Officers continued their crackdown on illegal guns and drugs with another anti-crime exercise on Thursday 16 January 2020.

During  the  exercise,  officers  proceeded  to  Bolai  Trace  East,  Chase Village, where they  conducted a search of a bushy area,  which resulted in the discovery of two  revolvers  and  three  rounds  of  ammunition.

Quantities of marijuana and cocaine also were found.

Police concerned about modified pistol found in Central

In an Intelligence-led operation on Thursday in Enterprise, officers recovered a modified 9 mm pistol which they said can cause multiple deaths if used in an open public space.

The discovery has been described as "worrying" and as a result, police officers are asking members of the public who may have information as to the person or persons behind the weapon to contact them immediately, as they fear that there may be more like it out on the streets.

Police: Crime down in Enterprise

The Cen­tral Di­vi­sion of the Po­lice Ser­vice has made strides in the fight against crime in En­ter­prise, as the have been able to re­duce down crime.

Speak­ing at a press brief­ing yes­ter­day, act­ing Sgt Jacey Small, of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, at­trib­uted the suc­cess to com­mu­ni­ty polic­ing and build­ing re­la­tion­ships with the res­i­dents.

Enterprise squatters get certificates of comfort

Under the stewardship of Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Edmund Dillon, the Land Settlement Agency has distributed 37 Certificates of Comfort to families in Crown Trace, Enterprise, Chaguanas.

A Certificate of Comfort issued by the Land Settlement Agency, is the first stage in the regularization of tenure process.

Only squatters who were occupying state land prior to January 1, 1998 could have made an application for a COC on or before October 27, 2000.
