T&T names 40-man list for Concacaf Gold Cup

Trinidad and Tobago has named its provisions 40-player roster for the Concacaf Gold Cup in June.

The roster will serve as the basis for the final 23-player list will be announced by Concacaf the first week of June.

After the official announcement, only injury-related changes will be allowed, up until 24 hours before each team’s first match and any injury replacements must come from the preliminary 40-player roster.

T&T beat Turks and Caicos Islands 6-0 in Beach Soccer championship

Goalkeeper Zane Coker and pivot Kevon Woodley scored two goals each in Trinidad and Tobago’s 6-0 win over Turks and Caicos Islands at the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico Monday afternoon.

Ryan Augustine and Shane Hospedales also netted for team T&T, which up until late last week was in danger of not traveling to the tournament due to unavailability of funding.

T&T will play the USVI next from 1 pm on Tuesday May 14th.

FIFA slaps life bans on two former T&T players

Two former Trinidad and Tobago football players have been banned for life from FIFA after being found guilty of match manipulation.

FIFA announced today that its Disciplinary Committee found nine individuals – eight players/former players as well as one players’ agent – guilty of having been involved in match manipulation in violation of art. 69 par. 1 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (Unlawfully influencing match results).

T&T to face Japan in international friendly next month

Trinidad and Tobago will face Japan in an international friendly on June 5, the Japan Football Association announced Friday.

The friendly will take place at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture and is likely to be Japan's last match before departing for the Copa America in Brazil.

Japan will be making its second guest appearance at the South American continental tournament running from June 14 to July 7.

Trinidad and Tobago, currently 93rd in the FIFA rankings, will use the match as a tune-up for the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting June 15.

Griffith launches Commissioner's Cup Football Tournament

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has officially launched the Commissioner’s Cup Football Tournament, an initiative ained at fighting crime.

The tournament is a collaborative effort of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) through its Community Policing Unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and the Football Factory Foundation.

It kicks off in July 2019 and is designed to incorporate sport as an essential crime-fighting tool.

Latapy to be announced as Barbados' head coach

A report on Barbadian website, nationnews.com, has tipped Trinidad and Tobago football legend, Russell Latapy to be announced as head coach of the Barbados senior team later this week.

An announcement will be made this Wednesday at a media conference at the Barbados Football Association’s headquarters.

Latapy most recently took charge of the T&T under-20 team to the Concacaf championship in November last year.

That team had been inactive between the CAC Games in July and the Concacaf tournament in November due to unpaid salaries to Latapy and his staff.
