Five Held in Central Division anti-crime exercise

Five  persons  were  arrested  and  a  bulletproof  vest,  a  pair  of  camouflage pants,  two  masks  and  a  quantity  of  cocaine  seized  by  officers  of  the Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Chaguanas district yesterday.

The  exercise was  conducted  between 2:30pm and 7:00pm, on Wednesday 5th February 2020, and was  supervised  by  Snr.  Supt.  (Ag.)  Hunte,  Supt.  (Ag.)  Mystar, ASP  Smith,  Insp.  Jordan  and  Sgt.  Stewart. 

TTPS issues another Missing Persons Alert

The Trinidad  and  Tobago  Police  Service  (TTPS) has issued another Missing Persons Alert, this time for a St. Madeline Woman and a Freeport teenager and her baby.

33-year-old  ANASTASIA MOTA, of Montgomery Trace in St. Madeline was last seen at home, at  8:30  am  on  Friday  17 January  2020. 

She  was  reported missing to the St. Madeline Police Station on the Saturday 18 January 2020. 

Labourers in court for murder

Three labourers, who have been charged with murder, will have their matter heard again on Monday 30th December 2019.

The men—who are from Freeport—were remanded into custody after appearing before a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday, charged with the murder of 41-year-old Bissram Ramkissoon, of Ramlogan Street, Uquire Road, Freeport.

Freeport residents in fear over crime upsurge

The shock­ing video of a Freeport fam­i­ly be­ing tram­pled up­on, kicked and cuffed by rob­bers dur­ing a birth­day lime has prompt­ed calls for more sur­veil­lance in the area.

Res­i­dents said drug dens were crop­ping up in the once qui­et com­mu­ni­ty and they were afraid to share in­for­ma­tion.

At least every busi­ness place in the Are­na Vil­lage has been hit by rob­bers over the past year. Even the Faith As­sem­blies Church has been bur­gled and po­lice in­for­mants have been gunned down.

Three men abducted in Freeport

Two Freeport fam­i­lies are ap­peal­ing for the pub­lic's help in find­ing three men who were ab­duct­ed on Sun­day out­side their homes.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, Shaz­ard Ho­sein, 29, Aaron Roop­nar­ine, 19 and his broth­er Sunil Roop­nar­ine, 23 were at a par­lour in Uquire Road, Freeport when a car and a van pulled up around 4 pm.

Two men armed with guns got out of the car and ran in­to the par­lour, de­mand­ing the shop­keep­er hand over cig­a­rettes and mon­ey.

Freeport man charged with murder

Twenty-year-old Balgobin Doodnath has been charged with the murder of Dalroop Jagessar and is due to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, today, to answer to the charge. 

Doodnath, a Guyanese immigrant residing in Chase Village, Freeport, was charged with murder, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul, 22nd February.

According to police reports, On February 18th Mr Jagessar, a 66-year-old factory owner also of Chase Village, was at his home where got into an altercation with the accused. 

Freeport man held with gun

One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the Freeport Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the district yesterday.

Officers were mobile patrol around 5pm, on Monday 11th February, 2019, at St. Mary’s junction, when they had cause to stop and search a 28- year-old Freeport man.

The search resulted in officers discovering one Ruger long rifle automatic pistol and a quantity of marijuana in his possession.

The man was subsequently arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.

Freeport man charged with possession of 4 firearms, ammunition

A Freeport man is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Wednesday 23rd May, 2018, charged with possession of four firearms and a quantity of ammunition, after being arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Freeport district, yesterday.

Devon Guevara, 36, of La Cuesa Road, Freeport, was arrested by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), after a search warrant was executed at his home.

The exercise, supervised by ASP Brandon John, of the IATF, took place between 5 am and 5 pm, on Sunday 20th May, 2018.

Armed bandits invade Freeport temple - pundit tied up, family robbed

Unaware that her family was being robbed, the two-year-old daughter of a pundit greeted one of the intruders and went to hug him. This innocent act of kindness did not stop the bandits from grabbing two gold bracelets off her tiny hand.

The robbery took place at around 2 am on the compound of the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Freeport where Pundit Gajendra Kumar, a national of India, lives with his wife and children.
