Two men were arrested and a Taurus pistol and a shotgun were seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anticrime exercise in the Division, yesterday.
Officers conducted the exercise in the Area West of the Northern Division, between 1:00am and 2:00pm, on Tuesday 10th October, 2017, during which they had cause to stop a vehicle with two male occupants along Centenary Street Extension, Tunapuna.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the pistol and five rounds of .38mm ammunition being discovered.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and one pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Laventille area, on Friday 15th September, 2017, police said in a media statement issued Monday.
The statement said that officers conducted the exercise between 5:30am and 8:30am, during which they executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at the Mentor Alley, Laventille, home of the suspect.

Two guns and quantities of cocaine and marijuana, worth over $100,000 in total, have been seized in San Fernando, police said in a statement today.
The statement said that around 3:30 pm on Thursday 20th April, 2017, officers of the San Fernando CID, conducted searches of several boats and abandoned shacks along King’s Wharf, San Fernando.
There, they discovered two Taurus pistols hidden under the wooden floor of a shack.
One of the pistols was fitted with a magazine, containing six rounds of .9mm ammunition.
