Police find gun, drugs, camouflage outfit in Point Fortin

One revolver, a quantity of marijuana and two pieces of camouflage clothing, were found by police during anti-crime exercises in the South Western Division.

Police say officers of Point Fortin CID, South Western Division Task Force and Canine Unit, conducted the exercises, coordinated by Snr Supt (Ag.), Inraj Balram, between 12 noon and 6pm on Wednesday 12th April, 2017.

AG: Decision to make probe on children public is up to Defence Force

Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi says the issue of whether the T&T Defence Force makes public the findings of its probe into the matter of children being photographed with high-powered weapons at their Cumuto facility is up to the army.

The AG was also adamant that when it came to the safety of his children, the issue was “non-negotiable.”

He made the comment yesterday, even as Advocacy Group Fixin T&T joined the list of citizens publicly voicing their concern over the matter and calling for the report to be made public.

Soldier held with guns, ammunition

A member of the Regiment has been detained after being in the possession of guns and ammunition.

The soldier, who resides in Princes Town, was driving his private vehicle in La Romain, when he was observed by police officers as acting suspiciously.

A chase ensued and the vehicle was intercepted.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cash, one Taurus pistol, 137 rounds of 9mm ammunition and four magazines, two of which were extended.

Police seize guns, ammunition in Diego Martin

Police have seized two shotguns and three rounds of ammunition in Sea Trace, Diego Martin.

According to reports, officers of the Western Division Task Force were conducting enquiries at River Road, Sea Trace, Diego Martin, in an area commonly called the "Pine" around 12:30 am today.

While there, the officers received information that led them to a nearby bamboo patch and found and seized two shot guns and three rounds of 12-gauge cartridges.

No one was arrested.

Investigations are continuing.

Four arrested during police exercise

Four men have been arrested following a police exercise in South Trinidad yesterday.

The 5 hours exercise which began at 7 am also resulted in the seizure of a Smith and Wesson pistol and four rounds of 9mm ammunition.

According to reports, officers attached to the Mon Repos Police Station, criminal investigations department and rapid response unit conducted several anti-crime exercises in Mon Repos.

During the exercise, four fixed penalty notices were issued, and 13 field interviews were conducted.

Ex-soldiers charged with possession of arms and ammunition

Two ex-special forces soldiers Steve Douglas and Devon Edwards appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar charged with possession of arms and ammunition

The ex-soldiers were arrested last week Wednesday, after a family in south Trinidad reported being terrorized by the two men.

One man was shot during the incident and an attempt made to burn down the family’s house.
