Two arrested as narcotics and firearms seized

Two persons were arrested and several firearms were seized during a police exercise today. The following is the full press release: 

"Officers of the Eastern Division seized cocaine, marijuana and several guns and arrested 2 persons in connection with the drug find and possession of a firearm during an exercise today, Thursday 15th September, 2016.

Padarath congratulates police on massive ammunition haul

Princes Town MP Barry Padarath has congratulated the police for their seizure of 6,800 bullets and five high-powered firearms in Piparo on Saturday.

The following is a statement issued by Padarath's office today.

"Princes Town MP, Barry Padarath congratulated the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service for their hard work and diligence in the seizure of 6,800 rounds of ammunition in Piparo, Princes Town.

Police seize 6,800 bullets, five high-powered weapons in Piparo raid

Police have seized five high-powered guns and a whopping 6,800 rounds of ammunition in a raid carried out in Piparo on Saturday.

The vast array of .22 and .25 ammunition were stored in boxes and biscuit containers and represents one of the largest hauls made by police in this country.

Officers of the Criminal Intelligence Division and the Criminal Gang Intelligence Unit carried out the raid at the Piparo house, after acting on information.

Rifles and shot guns were among the weapons seized.

Three men were arrested in the operation.

Police seize guns, ammunition in several exercises

Police have seized several guns as well as ammunition in several operations over the last few days.

A statement by the Police Service outlines its recent actions.

"Western Division – firearm, ammunition seized

Around 8:00pm on Wednesday 3rd August 2016, Inspector Hospedales along with a party of officers attached to the Western Division Criminal Investigations Department and Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence at Chaconia Cresent, Four Roads, Diego Martin where they conducted a search.

$89 million in drugs, 461 firearms seized so far this year

Police have seized over $89 million in marijuana and cocaine and 461 firearms so far this year. 

However, police maintain that the high incidence of murders committed by firearms, remain a challenge for the Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau.

The Bureau's ASP (Ag.) Vernly Gift issued this statement today:

"The Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau or OCNFB, of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, is the primary agency responsible for effectively reducing organised criminal trafficking of drugs, firearms and ammunition in Trinidad and Tobago.

14 arrested, 9 guns seized in police operations

Police have seized five guns, 19 rounds of ammunition and have arrested five people in various operations between Sunday evening and Monday afternoon.

The Police Service has issued the following statement on their operations:

"Western Division – firearm, ammunition seized

Between the hours of 6:00pm and 11:30pm on Sunday 24th July 2016, Inspector Gonzales along with a party of officers attached to the Western

Division Task Force conducted an anti-crime exercise in the Western Division.
